Hartford Community Schools Show Impressive Gains on State Tests

Hartford Community Schools, a client of the National Center for Community Schools, recently reported that its five community schools increased their performance on standardized state tests at a higher rate than the district average.

While still falling short of Hartford Public Schools's average performance, the five schools, which include K-8 and middle schools, improved by 5.6 percentage points in just one year -- double the rate of improvement of the district as a whole.
The gains have caught the attention of education and community groups in Hartford and beyond, including Achieve Hartford!, which featured the news in the August 12 edition of their Education Matters! newsletter.

The Center has provided training and technical assistance to the schools since well before the community school initiative was launched in 2008.
